Andre "Dries" van der Lof (born August 23, 1919 in Emmen ; † May 24, 1990 in Enschede ) was a Dutch racing driver .

Career

Dries van der Lof drove both circuit racing and rallies in the early 1950s . When the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort got the status of a world championship run, the organizers tried to get vehicles for the two Dutchmen Jan Flinterman and Dries van der Lof. Van der Lof got a place at HWM and drove its Formula 2 HWM in the Grand Prix. But he spent most of the time in the pits with a defect in the magneto. In the end he was 20 laps behind the winner Alberto Ascari in the Ferrari 500 and was not classified.

Van der Lof remained loyal to racing all his life and drove races in historic vehicles until the 1980s.
