Dwayne Hay (born February 11, 1977 in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Alleghe since 2009 in the Italian A1 series .
Career
Dwayne Hay began his career as a hockey player with Guelph Storm , for which he was active from 1994 to 1997 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . During this period he was selected in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as the 43rd player of the Washington Capitals . During the 1997/98 season, the attacker made his debut in the National Hockey League for Washington, while he was mainly on the ice for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Portland Pirates . On March 9, 1998 he was given in exchange for the Finn Esa Tikkanen to the Florida Panthers , in the following period was also rarely used in the NHL. He also spent most of his time in the Panthers franchise with their AHL farm teams Beast of New Haven and Louisville Panthers . The 1999/2000 season ended the former junior world champion at the Tampa Bay Lightning , who had signed him together with Ryan Johnson in exchange for Mike Sillinger shortly before the end of the trade deadline .
From 2000 to 2002, Hay was under contract with the Calgary Flames franchise . After he played in the 2000/01 season, his first full NHL season, the following year only in the AHL for Calgary's farm team Saint John Flames , he signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs . In the 2002/03 season, however, he only ran in the AHL for their farm team St. John's Maple Leafs . In the following years, the Canadian was in several minor league teams under contract. These were the Hershey Bears from the AHL, the Pensacola Ice Pilots from the ECHL , and the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and Arizona Sundogs from the Central Hockey League . During his time in the CHL, the former NHL player took a break from ice hockey in the 2007/08 season. For the 2009/10 season Hay was signed by HC Alleghe from the Italian A1 series .

For Canada , Hay took part in the 1997 World Junior Championship , where he became world champion with his team.
