Michael John Sillinger (born June 29, 1971 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 1092 games for the Detroit Red Wings , Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , Vancouver Canucks , Philadelphia Flyers during his active career between 1987 and 2009 , Tampa Bay Lightning , Florida Panthers , Ottawa Senators , Columbus Blue Jackets , Phoenix Coyotes , St. Louis Blues , Nashville Predators and New York Islanders in the National Hockey League on the position of the center has denied. With a total of twelve franchises , Sillinger played for more different teams than any other NHL player. He is also the NHL record holder with a total of nine investments in transfer deals together with Brent Ashton .
Career
The 1.78 m tall Sillinger began his professional career with the Regina Pats in the Canadian Junior League Western Hockey League before he was selected ( drafted ) in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft as eleventh in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings .
Initially, Sillinger commuted between Detroit and the Adirondack Red Wings , a farm team in the American Hockey League , in 1993 he made the permanent jump into the NHL roster of the Detroit Red Wings. During the 1994/95 season , the attacker was finally transferred to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim , which he left after only one year in the direction of the Vancouver Canucks . Other NHL stations Sillingers were the Philadelphia Flyers , the Tampa Bay Lightning , the Florida Panthers , the Ottawa Senators , the Columbus Blue Jackets , the Phoenix Coyotes , the St. Louis Blues and the Nashville Predators . For the 2006/07 season , the Canadian finally moved to the New York Islanders .
Sillinger only played at least one full season for Detroit, Vancouver, Columbus and New York, and he was transferred from the remaining teams during the current season. When the striker joined his eleventh NHL team, the Nashville Predators, in 2005 , he broke the record previously held by Michel Petit and Jean-Jacques Daigneault of ten different NHL career stations. Sillinger also holds the record of having scored at least one goal for twelve different NHL franchises , as well as the record of having played for eight different clubs in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Because of his frequent club changes, the Canadian was nicknamed "Suitcase Sillinger" (German: "Suitcase Sillinger" ).
On November 1, 2007 Sillinger played in the game of Islanders against the Tampa Bay Lightning his 1000th appearance in the highest North American professional league.
