After the winger was drawn during the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 in the seventh round in a total of 127th place by the Quebec Nordiques and had won the title with the Canadian selection at the Junior World Championship in the same year , he tried in the American Hockey League in 1992 to gain a foothold in the Halifax Citadels . There he only played for a year before he traveled around with Team Canada in the 1993/94 season and finally ended the season with the Quebec Nordiques and their farm team .
At the 1994 Olympics , he was part of Team Canada and won the silver medal. After he received only a few missions for the NHL team in Quebec in the following year, he moved to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in 1995 . But even here he only stayed for one season due to the poor perspective.
In the summer of 1996, Norris decided to move to Europe and accepted an offer from the Kölner Haie from the German Ice Hockey League. He played for the KEC for a total of seven years. He won the Spengler Cup in Davos with the Haien in 1999 and the German championship in 2002 ; In the 2002 DEL final against Adler Mannheim , he scored all of the winning goals for the Haie. He was also runner-up with the Cologne team in 2000 and 2003 . For the 2003/04 season he joined the league competitor Frankfurt Lions , with whom he won the title in the first year. In the 2004/05 season he was the player with the best plus / minus value with +33 . Norris' contract with the Lions ran until the end of the 2006/07 season . After the end of his active career in the summer of 2007, he took over the position of manager at the Frankfurt Lions and remained there until bankruptcy in 2010.
