East Palo Alto is a city in San Mateo County in the US state of California , United States , with 28,155 inhabitants (as of 2010 ). The geographical coordinates are: 37.47 ° north, 122.13 ° west. The urban area has a size of 6.7 km². East Palo Alto is halfway between San Francisco and San Jose and north of the city of Palo Alto.
It is a city of its own and not the eastern part of Palo Alto as many assume. It is also located in County San Mateo (California) . Palo Alto, on the other hand, is located in Santa Clara County . Both cities are separated by the San Francisquito Creek . To the west is the town of Menlo Park .
Residents
About 70 percent of East Palo Alto's residents are Latinos and about 25 percent are African Americans . With 18.8 percent, East Palo Alto is also the city with the most Pacific Islanders on the mainland of the USA (excluding Hawaii )
