Life

Easy Mo Bee grew up in the Brooklyn district of Bedford-Stuyvesant . The block parties held there influenced him as well as his father's extensive record collection from an early age. He started deejaying when he was twelve . In 1985 he and two friends from his neighborhood founded the group Rapping Is Fundamental, which combined hip-hop with the music genre Doo Wop and rap with singing. Through one of the members of the group he met Big Daddy Kane ; In 1989 he produced two tracks for his album It's a Big Daddy Thing for the first time. At A & M Records under contract, he published with Rappin 'Is Fundamental 1991 album The Doo Hop legacy . In the same year he took part in the production of the debut albums by GZA and RZA , both later members of the Wu-Tang Clan .

Outside of the hip-hop scene, Easy Mo Bee first gained notoriety in 1992 when he produced the last album of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis Doo Bop and only completed it after his death. Despite average reviews, the album sold over a million copies and won a 1993 Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance . In the following years, Easy Mo Bee was mainly involved in productions by emerging artists for the record label Bad Boy Records by Sean Combs . In 1994 he produced the single Flava in Ya Ear by Craig Mack , the number 9 in the Billboard Hot 100 reached. He worked with both Tupac Shakur and The Notorious BIG : Among other things, he wrote six pieces on Ready to Die by Notorious BIG and two songs on Me Against the World by Tupac; both albums are considered classics today. In 1994 he also produced Runnin '(From tha Police), one of the few songs the two made together.

In 2000 he released the compilation Now or Never: Odyssey 2000 . It received little attention and moderate reviews; Guest appearances came from Kool G Rap , Goodie Mob , Angie Martínez , Raekwon , Busta Rhymes and Snoop Dogg , among others . On Alicia Keys ' album The Diary of Alicia Keys he produced the medley If I Was Your Woman / Walk on By in 2003 . In 2007 he worked again with RZA for the album 8 Diagrams of the Wu-Tang Clan. He was originally intended to be the composer of the music for the film Notorious BIG , which appeared in early 2009, but was ultimately not considered.
