Eberhard Arlt

Eberhard Arlt (* 27. November 1905 in Andreas cottage , county Strelitz ; † 28. June 1972 ) was a German functionary of the SED in the GDR .

Life

The son of a coopers attended elementary school and high school between 1928 and 1932 at the technical evening school, then completed vocational training as a draftsman and designer and then worked in these professions. After he became a member of the German Metal Workers' Association (DMV) in 1927 , he became a member of the KPD in 1931 and in 1933 did illegal work as the political leader of the now banned KPD in Berlin-Adlershof , Berlin-Treptow and Berlin-Neukölln .

Arlt was imprisoned for these activities in 1939 and then sentenced in 1940 for "preparation for high treason" to a prison term of two years and 6 months, which he served in the Tegel prison. During his subsequent deployment in the so-called penalty battalion 999 , he managed to desert in 1945 .

In May 1945, he fell in Ried briefly in US captivity and was after his release in 1945 head of the KPD district 65 in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg . After the compulsory unification of the SPD and KPD , Arlt became a member of the SED in 1946 and was initially head of the department for economics in the SED regional association in Berlin before he became the main advisor in the economics department of the SED party executive in 1948 .

After studying at the Karl Marx party college between 1949 and 1950 , he first became deputy head of the economics department and was then head of the industry department of the SED Central Committee from 1951 to February 1953 .

Between 1953 and 1955 he was head of the German Office for Weights and Measures before he worked for a year as head of the Chair of Economic Policy at the Central School of the Central Committee of the SED in Ballenstedt . He was then in 1956 Researcher in the publisher 's economy and in 1957 director of the publishing the technology .

In September 1958 Arlt was appointed head of the chair for political economy at the Karl Marx party college and taught there until he was recalled in December 1961. His successor at the party college was Manfred Herold . Most recently, Arlt was a research associate in the research and technology group in the SED Central Committee.
