Echo is a small town (with the status " City ") in the Yellow Medicine County in the southwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Minnesota . In 2010 Echo had 278 inhabitants.

history

After the land around the present site echo of Indians of the Dakota was settled, the first white settlers arrived in the 1870s in the area.

In 1874, the Echo Township , which still exists today, was founded, to which today's local area still belonged. In 1892, the county government approved the application to establish an independent parish and Echo was separated as the Village of Echo from the township of the same name.

The community grew not least because of its location on a railway line. The first electric street lighting was installed in 1912, which was made possible by the construction of its own power station. In 1926, a new school, which still exists today, was built on the site of the school from 1895 that had previously burned down. When all incorporated towns of Minnesota were given a uniform parish status in 1976 , Echo became the City of Echo .
