Eckhardshausen

Eckhardshausen is a deserted area in the Breitau district , today part of Sontra in the Werra-Meißner district in northern Hesse .

location

The desert is about 1.5 km northwest of the center of Breitau and west below the federal highway 400 in the Ulfetal at the exit of the Gangstal at an altitude of 236 m. To the north of the desert lies Krauthausen and to the west of Weißenborn at about the same distance from the desert as Breitau in the south.

history

In the area of ​​the former settlement, almost 500 shards were found on an area of ​​around 150 × 100 m, dating from around 10/11. until 14./15. Century. The first documentary mention of the place "Eckehardishusin" is dated to the year 1271, and already in 1331 the place is described as desolate, when the desolation "Eckhardishusen" became a goat grove of Friedrich von Romrod and Ludwig von Baumbach ; this fiefdom was only renewed by the Baumbach in 1385. In 1344 Heimbrod von Boyneburg zu Wildeck sold a manse in "Eckehardeshusen" for 4 marks to the Germerode monastery . From 1489 the district of the former settlement was fiefdom of the Landgraviate of Hesse . "Eckershausen" was last mentioned in 1570.

Others

The two-part nature conservation and FFH area Boyneburg and Schickeberg near Breitau lies to the east of today's desert. Only a few hundred meters northeast of the desert is another desert on the upper reaches of the Gangstal, the former settlement of Gangesthal.
