The Ulfe is a 13.7 km long, right or southeastern tributary of the Sontra in the urban area of Sontra in the Werra-Meißner district , Hesse ( Germany ).

course

The Ulfe rises in the eastern part of northern Hesse in the Richelsdorf mountains . Your source is located about 4.5 km north-west of the Thuringian border between Sontra- Ulfen in the Northeast and the Hessian in the neighboring district of Rotenburg located Nentershausen in the southwest. It is located east of the Kirchberg ( 431.3  m above sea level ).

The Ulfe initially flows in the Richelsdorf Mountains in a north-northeast direction to Ulfen. From there it runs between these mountains in the southwest and the Ringgau in the northeast, north-northwest via Breitau to Krauthausen .

Finally the Ulfe reaches Wichmannshausen , where it flows into the Sontra , which comes from the south and flows northwards into the weirs . The “Alter Graben” road leads over the Sontra directly north of the mouth of the Ulfe.

Catchment area and tributaries

The catchment area of the Ulfe extends from the mountains of the Ringgau and the Richelsdorf mountains to the confluence with the Sontra and covers 77.613 km². The Ulfe tributaries include Blanke , Renda , Lindenauer Wasser and Weissenborn when viewed downstream .

Worth seeing

The Boyneburg ruin is located on the Boyneburg mountain ( 513  m above sea level ) to the east of the Wichmannshausen estuary of Ulfe, and Boyneburgk Castle , the Boyneburgk Estate and the Harmuthshausen Estate are distributed around the mountain .

Extend approximately parallel to the Ulfe about between the villages Nentershausen and Ulfen the merging circuit lines  71 and 9.
