Eddy Jegge

Eduard "Eddy" Jegge (born April 1, 1933 in Zurich , also Edi Jegge ; † July 10, 2012 ) was a Swiss jazz musician ( trumpet , also double bass , accordion , vocals and alphorn ) and music editor.

Live and act

Jegge, who received trumpet and accordion lessons, completed an apprenticeship as a radio electrician and then worked as a delivery truck driver. In 1951 he was one of the founding members of the Tremble Kids , with whom he played again since 1954, became a professional musician in 1955 and then toured through Germany and other European countries as far as Poland; In 1958 he joined the Continentals of René Bertschy , with whom he also worked in Europe. In 1963, after a torn lung, he had to give up playing the trumpet for several years and also his professional career. After a time as a record seller, he worked for Radio Zurich until retirement , most recently as a program designer and music editor. Besides that he played the trumpet and alphorn again. a. with Raymond Droz , the Original Ragtime Band and Back Room Six . He also recorded with the DRS Big Band and the Darktown Strutters .

Prizes and awards

Jegge was awarded twice at the Jazz Festival Zurich . In 1953 he received the second prize as a trumpeter, in 1955 he was recognized as the festival's best soloist.
