Edmund Reinhard Friedrich Wilhelm Christoph Hektor von Degenfeld (born January 13, 1817 in Mannheim , † December 13, 1870 in Karlsruhe ) was a major general in Baden .

Life

origin

He was a son of Christoph Wilhelm Ferdinand von Degenfeld (1776-1831) from his second marriage to Theresa Wilhelmine Friederike Carolina von Closen († 1834). He inherited the manor in Ehrstädt , Waibstadt , Unterbiegelhof and Wagenbach from his father .

Military career

Degenfeld embarked on a military career in the Baden Army and in 1836 was second lieutenant in the Dragoon Regiment "Grand Duke". In 1841 he became Premier Lieutenant in the 1st Dragoons Regiment, and in 1843 in the 2nd Dragoons Regiment "von Freystedt". As Rittmeister he temporarily resigned from service in 1848. In 1850 he was reinstated as Rittmeister in the 3rd Cavalry Regiment. In 1858 he became a major in the 3rd Dragoons Regiment, and in 1863 a lieutenant colonel in the Leib-Dragoons Regiment, where he soon became commander and garrison commander in Bruchsal . Because of a change of garrison he was relieved of the garrison command in 1864 and retired as major general . D. adopted into retirement. For his achievements, Degenfeld was appointed Knight of the Order of Merit of Philip the Magnanimous with Swords in 1849 . In 1856 he received the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Zähringer Lion and a year later the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus III. Class .

family

He married Maria Adelheid Luise Sophie von Hardenburg-Wiederstedt (1835–1907) in Karlsruhe on May 7, 1855. The marriage remained childless.
