Edward Montrell Seward (born October 20, 1978 in Chesapeake , Virginia ) is an American basketball player who has been playing in Germany since 2004 .

career

Seward, who has Bahamian roots, played at Norfolk State University in the US state of Virginia from 2000 to 2002 . In 54 missions he came to averages of 3.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per encounter. After his study in late 2002 earned Seward initially for two years as a shipbuilder at a shipyard of the US Navy his money.

In 2004 he moved to the 2nd regional league in Germany for Aschersleben Tigers BC . In the 2004/05 season he contributed an average of 19.3 points to winning the championship title in the 2nd Regionalliga Nordost. He also formed a strong team with his compatriot Omarr Smith in Aschersleben in the 1st Regional League. 2005/06 and 2006/07 Seward and Smith with the team were each runner-up in the 1st Regionalliga Nord.

After three seasons in Aschersleben, he moved to the second highest German division, the 2nd Bundesliga ProA to the former first division club in BG Karlsruhe . As for his two seasons in college with the Spartans at State University in Norfolk , who play in the first NCAA division, Seward mostly came off the bench at BG as a substitute. After one season, he moved to league rivals Cuxhaven BasCats in 2008 . Here, his playing time almost doubled and his average per game in points (11.3) and rebounds (10.6) was in the double-digit range. After one season, he was committed to the BBC Bayreuth in 2009 , in which his game shares decreased slightly. With Bayreuth he made it into the first basketball league in 2010 , which the previous club and champion from 1989 Steiner Bayreuth had already belonged to in the 80s and 90s. Seward moved on, however, and was signed by the first division club Phoenix Hagen . There he extended his contract for two more years until 2013 in April 2011. However, he was not considered in the 2012/2013 season and then played in the 1st regional league with cooperation partner BG Hagen. For the 2013/2014 season Seward moved to the second division promoted BBC Magdeburg . He returned to Cuxhaven for the 2014/2015 season.

Seward withdrew from the professional field in 2016, but stayed in Germany. In the 2016/17 season he played for the regional division Weser Baskets Bremen. With 15.9 points per encounter he was the best scorer in Bremen, with whom he was relegated from the 1st regional league. Then he joined the Cuxhaven Baskets (first 1st, then 2nd regional league).
