Theodor Edwin Gülcher (born on May 4, 1822 in Eupen ; died on October 24, 1870 in Karlsruhe ) was a Prussian administrative officer and district administrator for the Eupen district .

Career

Edwin Gülcher was the son of the cloth manufacturer Jakob Gülcher and his wife Henriette Gülcher, née Hansen. After attending the secondary school in Elberfeld, which he left when he passed his school-leaving examination in 1839, he was a one-year volunteer in the 4th Dragoons Regiment in Deutz in 1841 . Gülcher last held the military rank as Rittmeister a. D. After completing his military service, he received practical training as a farmer , made numerous trips and found employment in the management of goods , including in Hungary . In 1854 he finally founded the Kirchbusch estate near Walhorn.

His political activity began with his election as the mayor of the Walhorn mayor on October 18, 1862. This was followed on August 12, 1868, initially subject to the examination still to be taken, the appointment of the district administrator of the Eupen district. On the following September 5th he took over his new office. The definitive appointment based on the highest cabinet order was issued on August 30, 1869, waiving the pending examination, whereupon Edwin Gülcher was also formally introduced as district administrator on September 30. At the same time, Gülcher took over the post of royal commissioner for Neutral Moresnet from 1868 until his death .

Immediately after the start of the Franco-German War he received his then on September 3, 1870 convening the General Government of Alsace in Haguenau . Gülcher was a bearer of the Red Eagle Order, 4th class.

His successor as district administrator in Eupen was his brother-in-law Alfred Sternickel , who was followed in 1883 by his son Alfred Gülcher .
