Peter Benedict Joseph Amand of Harenne (born on 14. April 1813 in Raeren , died on 7. January 1866 in Eupen ) was a Prussian civil servant , mayor of mayors Eynatten and Walhorn and the city of Eupen and district administrator of the districts of Eupen and representation as the circle Monschau .

Amand von Harenne was the son of the mayor Johann Baptist Joseph von Harenne (born 1764; died on December 23, 1832) and his wife Anna Josephina von Harenne, née Mouton (1777-1857). According to Oidtman, he had nine siblings, four brothers and five sisters.

The Harenne family, represented by the lawyer lawyer Johann Jacob Albert de Harenne (1728-1771) was born on 24 January 1769 by the Imperial Hofpfalzgrafen Franz Anton von Waldburg-Zeil (1714-1790) in the realm knight conditions raised. His son, Johann Baptist Joseph von Harenne, received the Prussian recognition of the title of nobility on May 2nd, 1827, the entry in the Rhenish nobility register followed on April 25th, 1834. Amand von Harenne attended elementary school until he was twelve , then received private tuition from Pastor Vincken until 1828, and then continued his self-tuition. In parallel to his autodidactic skills, he found employment as the mayor's secretary at his father's side. He then fulfilled his military service from October 1836 to September 30, 1838. Immediately afterwards, on October 1, 1838 , he entered the service of the district administrator of the Aachen district , Franz Carl Hasslacher, as a district clerk . From this position he took over the management of the Eynatten mayor on January 14, 1839 as mayor and, from January 10, 1840, of the Walhorn mayor as well . On September 7th, 1843 he was elected to the 1st district deputy of the district of Eupen and thus also a representative of the district administrator.

As his political career progressed, Amand von Harenne was initially appointed as mayor of Eupen in 1846 and finally with confirmation on March 24, 1847 . However, he only remained in this office for three years. On October 1, 1849, he took over again at first provisionally, the management of the county Eupen in imitation of the Governing Council for the Prussian Royal Government changing to Aachen August from Reiman . Von Harenne received his definitive appointment as Eupener district administrator on November 9, 1850. He died on duty.

In addition to managing the Eupen district, Amand von Harenne was in charge of the neighboring Monschau district from November 1 to September 15, 1854 and again from November 1, 1854 to October 16, 1856. Alongside the teacher Theodor Hegener, Amand von Harenne was one of the main initiators of the Eupen Citizens' Association, which was founded in the spring of 1848 as part of the European Revolutions of 1848/1849 to discuss political issues of the day and take a position on local problems. The focus was a massive election agitation for the democratic party for the November elections in 1848, which led to their clear election victory. After the subsequent removal of the democratically elected ministry in Eupen on December 5, 1848 by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV , the citizens' association campaigned for a revision of important points.

Amand von Harenne was awarded Prussia with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class off. He was awarded the Leopold Order by the Belgian royal family . The town and district of Eupen donated the still preserved grave monument to him.

The Catholic Amand von Harenne married Anna Maria Theresia Rausch (born around 1814 in Welkenraedt; died on April 10, 1867 in Eupen) on April 26, 1841 in Welkenraedt, a daughter of the landowner Edmund Joseph Rausch and his wife Maria Catharina Rausch, née Bonnie (?).
