Egon Jux

Egon Jux (born July 17, 1927 in Königsberg ; † August 19, 2008 ) was a German architect . He was best known for his bridge structures. He worked with his son Ben Jux in his planning office in Darmstadt .

Life

Jux was a student of Le Corbusier . His bridge construction was an important identity-building infrastructure project. The Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge , popularly known as the Red Bridge , spans the Alzette valley and connects the city center of Luxembourg with the Europaviertel on the Kirchberg plateau . The Köhlbrand Bridge, visible from afar, in the Port of Hamburg over the 325-meter-wide arm of the Süderelbe, is a prime example of elegance and has become a landmark of Hamburg.

  • European steel construction award 1975 for the "most beautiful bridge on the continent" ( Köhlbrand Bridge )
  • Renault Traffic Design Award 2001 for bypass, Fuhlsbüttel (ARGE open space planning: nps und Partner, Hamburg - Jux und Partner, Darmstadt)
  • Renault Traffic Design Award 2004 for S-Bahn station Ludwigshafen-Mitte (award winner: Jux Gruppe GmbH, Darmstadt. The reason speaks of the “group of architects around Ben Jux”).
