A girl forever is a song by German pop singer , songwriter and music producer Peter Orloff . The piece is the first single from his third studio album of the same name.

Creation and publication

Emergence

The song was written jointly by Chris Andrews and Peter Orloff. In collaboration with Gerd Hämmerling and Peter Meisel , Orloff was also responsible for the production of A Girl Forever . The piece was arranged under the direction of Dieter Zimmermann. The song was distributed by Nero Musikverlag.

publication

The first release of A Girl Forever took place as a 7 ″ single in Germany, under the British music label Decca Records ( catalog : D 29 078) in February 1971. The B-side of the single contains the song Halt - Bleib noch sein . On the front cover of the single you can only see - in addition to the artist name and song title - the face of Orloff, against a blurred natural background. The back of the cover contains an advertising campaign for the upcoming studio album Das brennt as hot as fire . The picture on the front cover was taken by the Cologne picture agency F. and S. Trawinski; the back of the Hamburg picture agency Wolfson. The same single version was also released in Belgium in 1971 (catalog: D 29 078). The only change that was made compared to the German version is the cover image. On the Belgian front cover, only the artist name and the song title can be seen in black and white on a red background.

1973 Orloff recorded the song - for his fifth studio album Eliza - in an English-language version entitled Leave Me or Love Me . In 1984 a new edition of the single was released in the Netherlands under the music label BR Music (catalog: 45080). The 7 "single doesn’t contain Halt - stay stand'n as before , but the song Das brennt as hot as fire as the B-side. The cover picture shows a black and white portrait of Orloff. 2019 Orloff took part in the 13th season of the RTL show Ich bin ein Star - Get me out of here! In the wake of the high media interest, Orloff published a new edition of A Girl Forever as a single download on January 11, 2019. The new edition was produced by Oliver DeVille.

promotion

In order to promote the song, three live appearances took place in the ZDF music show ZDF hit parade at the beginning of 1971. Furthermore, Orloff made his acting debut in the German comedy The Great Aunts To Beat in September 1971. Orloff sings the song in the middle of the film , while scenes of him as well as Rudi Carrell , Mascha Gonska , Hansi Kraus and Ilja Richter can be seen. 2009 occurred Andrews and Orloff together in the SWR telecast Merry everyday on in which they shared the German version A girl forever , and the English version of Leave Me or Love Me singing.

content

The lyrics to A Girl Forever are written in German. The music was composed by Chris Andrews and the text was written by Peter Orloff. The lyrics to the English version Leave Me or Love Me are an adoption of the German lyrics that were translated by Andrews. Musically, the song moves in the area of hit music . The composition is written in C major . The song is built on three verses , a chorus and a bridge . The song begins with the first verse, which is immediately followed by the chorus. The chorus is followed by the second verse, at the end of which there is a bridge and then the second chorus. The same process is repeated with the third stanza. The song ends after the third chorus. All lines of the song were written in cross rhymes .

“A girl forever and ever;
and not just for today, that's what I wish for.
A girl forever and ever;
and not just for today, I miss that so much. "

- Refrain, original excerpt

Music video

The music video was shot in Cologne and celebrated its premiere on January 10, 2019 on YouTube . One can see Orloff, who sings the song alone at different locations. You can see him on the edge of the road in downtown Cologne, in front of a black background reminiscent of a blue screen , or standing in a meadow. On the other hand, you see Orloff, who is meeting for coffee with a woman (played by Nicole Mieth ). The total length of the video is 3:25 minutes. The Austrian manager Helmut Werner directed the film .

Commercial win

A girl forever was able to record some successes in the ZDF hit parade, which led to Orloff appearing a total of three times with the song on the show. In the 19th episode of January 23, 1971 Orloff appeared with the song as the fifth new performance. In the next issue of February 20, 1971, A Girl was able to position herself forever in fifth place. In the 21st episode of March 20, 1971, the song rose three places and landed in second place. Orloff only had to admit defeat to Heino and the title In a bar in Mexico . Due to the fact that Orloff appeared three times with the title in the charts, he was no longer available for the upcoming edition.

In December 1990, the original - as the first and only oldie in the history of the show - reached the top position in the German hit parade of Südwestfunk . In addition, Orloff was awarded a gold record by his music label for the commercial success of his single .
