action

The widowed former flight captain Romain Duprey is summoned from France to Canada to identify the body of his son Julien. But the man who was shot is not his son, he just carries his passport with him. Duprey is now faced with a mystery, after all he knows nothing about his son's present life. Because he had turned away from Romain after the death of his mother and entered Canada illegally.

Duprey learns from the police that Julien got involved with drug traffickers and people smugglers and thus helped illegal immigrants to escape to the USA. When Julien got drug money during one of these actions, he went into hiding to start a new life in California with his girlfriend Anne. In the nerve-wracking search for his son, Duprey receives support from the American Karen. Both the police and the criminal syndicate are clinging more and more to Duprey's heels.

Finally, Romain finds his son, who is about to cross the US border with the stolen money. Romain tries unsuccessfully to stop Julien. When the criminals and police show up, there is a shootout in which Romain is wounded. As a result, Julien gives up his plan and surrenders while the criminals are arrested.

Reviews

The Lexicon of International Films wrote: “Well staged and excellently played crime film; weaker in the description of the father-son relationship and the behavior of the disoriented adolescent. "

Cinema found: “Lino Ventura's third collaboration with director Claude Pinoteau [...] resulted in an exciting thriller that is tailored to the striking presence of the actor. Ventura again plays the grumpy loner, whose portrayal he was committed to in most of his films. At the same time, the thriller is convincing as a drama of a fragile father-son relationship. "

Prisma said: "Despite many implausible storylines, an exciting thriller that lives especially from the play of the - as always - terrific Lino Ventura."
