A Queen for Christmas (Original title: Crown for Christmas) is an American Christmas romance directed by Alex Zamm from 2015. The film was produced by Hallmark Entertainment for the Hallmark Channel Original Movies series.
action
Allie Evans from Brooklyn would have liked to become a painter. After the early death of her parents, however, she lovingly took care of the upbringing of her younger siblings instead of studying. She earned her family's livelihood by working as a maid, until recently in a luxury hotel in New York . There Fergus, the butler of a departing guest, happened to witness how she was given notice just two weeks before Christmas for not having cleaned the guest's suite in time and made it ready for occupancy again. He then visits her and her now grown siblings in their small apartment. He actually wants to offer her a check, but impressed by her engaging nature and her happy little family, he offers her a temporary job as a nanny at a castle in Europe until after Christmas. Theodora, the 10-year-old daughter of his employer, has been increasingly defiant since her mother's death, so that the position for her governess has to be filled at ever shorter intervals. After initially modest hesitation, Allie agrees.
Upon their arrival, the castle turns out to be the residence of the small kingdom of Winshire, their employer as its King Maximilian and his daughter Theodora as a princess. Allie very quickly succeeds in winning the girl's trust and affection, as well as her father's heart. The king is about to have a politically motivated wedding with Countess Celia arranged by his Chancellor Riggs, but to the great joy of his daughter finally decides in favor of love and marries Allie.
background
The shooting took place in Bucharest ( Romania ) and on Lake Bled in Slovenia .
criticism
Critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm gave it a mediocre rating with thumbs to the side and just commented on the entertainment value with “predictable kitsch at Christmas time”.
