Unified lock
A standard lock is a lock that is keyed alike with any number of other locks. Standard locks have an identical locking system and can be opened with a standard key.
Uses
Standard locks are typically used in the following areas:
- Triangular or square lock mechanism in garbage boxes , at railways (u train toilets. Ä.) And in the energy economy
- Number combination locks ("ZKS" for short) with a uniform combination
- Padlocks of the forest authorities in Germany (model "SUL 362N")
- The " Alpine Club Key" (abbreviated to "AV key") or the padlocks on Norwegian mountain huts (called "DNT lock")
- "K2" locks from Stromnetz Hamburg GmbH for access to building site power distributors and in apartment buildings to rooms with the electricity meters in the individual apartments (previously known as " HEW key")

- Standardized locks for public toilets for the disabled (abbreviated as " Euro WC key ")
Standard locks are not to be confused with master key systems .
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantage of a standard lock is that it is keyed alike and duplicates of the associated key can be issued to several people. The disadvantage is that a standard lock only offers effective access protection if the corresponding key can only be obtained with an authorization and recognized proof of use.
