The Eisenberg is 1028.8  m above sea level. NHN high summit in the Upper Ore Mountains north of Oberwiesenthal in Saxony, Germany.

Location and surroundings

The Eisenberg is located two kilometers north of the city of Oberwiesenthal . The Stumpelfelsen and the Kreuzbrückfelsen are located on the plateau . The next higher Fichtelberg is located in a south-westerly direction at a distance of 1,800 meters. Both mountains are connected by a 979 meter high shoulder, over which the Vierenstraße leads and the sports building Waldeck including the parking lot is located. From here, after an 800 meter long ascent in the direction of the Stümpelhütte on the Eisenberg or with the Himmelsleiter lift on the Fichtelberg. The former Rote Vorwerk was located on the aforementioned parking lot . To the north of the shoulder begins the valley of the White Sehma , to the south a stream rises, which flows into the Pöhlbach after two kilometers .

Mountain or peak

Due to the short distance to the Fichtelberg, the low height difference (50 m) to the aforementioned shoulder and the low dominance (900 m), it is controversial whether the Eisenberg as an independent mountain or just next to the Kleiner Fichtelberg (1206 m) , its notch height and dominance 20 meters and 600 meters, and the Taufichtig (1001 m), notch height 9 m, is to be assessed as a further secondary peak of the Fichtelberg.

view

From the Kreuzbrückfelsen and from the vantage point at the Stümpelhütte there is a wide panoramic view of the upper Ore Mountains, including the Toskabank , the Keilberg , the Fichtelberg or the Gifthüttenberg.

Paths to the summit

There are no marked paths leading to the summit. It can be reached from the southeast, from Neudorf , via the Flößzechenweg and from Oberwiesenthal via the Rote Vorwerk. There are several local ski trails not far from the summit.
