Vain "Danilo" Cantoni (born October 4, 1906 in Montevideo ; † June 6, 1997 ibid) was a Uruguayan automobile racing driver .
Career
Eitel Cantoni was one of the many South Americans who came to Europe in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In 1952, after finishing fifth in the Buenos Aires Grand Prix , Cantoni founded the Escuderia Bandeirantes. Gino Bianco and Chico Landi also drove for this racing team .
The Escuderia relied on racing vehicles from the Maserati brand . Cantoni himself competed in three races for the 1952 World Championship . He made his debut at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on a Maserati A6GCM . After a brake defect, he had to give up on the first lap. His best result was eleventh place at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza .
At the end of the year he was seventh at the Gran Premio di Modena and ninth at the AVUS race in Berlin .
