The Ejinhoro banner ( Chinese 伊金霍洛 旗 , Pinyin Yījīnhuòluò Qí ; Mongolian ᠡᠵᠢᠨ ᠬᠣᠷᠣᠭᠠ ᠬᠣᠰᠢᠭᠤ, Ejin Qoroɣ-a qosiɣu ) is a banner of the prefecture-level city of Ordos in the southwest of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the north-central part of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of 5600 km² and had 261,709 inhabitants as of September 2018. Its main town is the large community Altan Xire (阿勒 腾 席 热 镇).
Geography and climate
The east of the Ejinhoro banner is on the Loess Plateau, the central part on the Ordos Plateau , while the western part is in the Mu-Us Desert . Ejinhoro is located at heights between 1070 and 1556 meters above sea level. Ejinhoro has a dry steppe to desert climate. It has the third largest coal reserves in China, around 200 million tons of coal are mined annually, and deposits of 56 billion tons are known.
population
As of the end of September 2018, the total population of the Ejinhoro banner was 261,709, compared to the previous year it had grown by 3,137. The population consisted of more than 93% Han Chinese , national minorities made up almost 7% of the population. The registered population was around 176,000 people.
The 2000 census showed a total population of 147,739 people in 46,488 households, of which 80,820 were men and 66,919 women, but the Kangbashi district had not yet split off at the time.
Administrative structure
As of the end of 2018, the Ejinhoro banner at community level was divided into seven large communities : Altan Xire (阿勒 腾 席 热 镇), Dsasag (札萨克 镇), Ulan Mulun (乌兰 木 伦 镇), Nalintaohai , (纳林 陶亥 镇), Subu'erga (苏布尔嘎 镇), Hongqinghe (红 庆 河镇), Ejinhoro (伊金霍洛 镇). In addition, there were two logistics zones and three industrial areas at community level.
At village level, the above administrative units are divided into 138 villages and 18 communities .
