El Doncello is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Caquetá in Colombia .
geography
El Doncello is located in the north of Caquetá , about 60 km from Florencia at an altitude of 480 meters and has an average temperature of 26 ° C. El Doncello lies at the foot of the Andes at the transition to the Amazon region . The municipality borders in the north Algecira in the Department del Huila , in the east Puerto Rico , in the south Cartagena del Chairá and in the west El Paujil .

history
When settling the north of Caquetá, a town was needed on the route between Florencia and Puerto Rico . For this purpose, a small settlement was built around a church and a school in 1951 and a police station was set up in 1952. El Doncello received the status of a corregimientos in 1956 and the status of a municipality in 1967.
