The Ela-Hütte (n) ( Romansh : Chamonas d'Ela ) is a refuge of the Davos section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). It is located in the Albula Alps at an altitude of 2252  m above sea level. M. in the upper Val Spadlatscha in the area of the municipality Bergün Filisur in the middle of the Parc Ela nature park . In addition to the new Ela hut, there is also the old Ela hut. This is about a five-minute walk below today's Ela hut and is often used by groups. The hut serves as a base for climbing Piz Ela ( 3339  m above sea level ). The hut is open all year round. It has 38 storage spaces and is unmanaged, but a section member is present at the hut on weekends in the summer season (usually July to October) (even then, however, no catering is offered). It is always kept in good shape through numerous assignments by voluntary section members.

history

The old hut was built by the Rätia section of the Swiss Alpine Club in 1879. In 1909 it was taken over by the Davos Section. In 1911 the old Ela hut was replaced by a new building with 22 beds (the old hut was preserved and is still a little below the new hut today). In 1920 the first extension followed with an extension for wood storage and a toilet. In the years that followed, renovations and extensions were carried out again and again (e.g. relocation of the entrance, installation of a new toilet facility, roof renovation, plastering and wood paneling of the hut). An important step in 1980 was the construction of a water pipe with an extinguishing water reservoir and a well in front of the hut. In 1984 electrification followed with emergency radio and electrical lighting via solar systems. In 1985 the roofs of the old and new hut were renewed. In 2008 a new well was installed, the water pipe was renovated and the kitchen and benches were renewed. Since then there has been running water in the hut. A new kitchen was also installed.

In 2011 the “new” Ela hut was 100 years old. The anniversary was celebrated by SAC Davos on August 13 and 14, 2011 with a ceremony at the hut.

Furnishing

The hut is purely a self-catering hut. The 38 beds are divided into two rooms. In the main room, where the kitchen and the tables / chairs are also located, there is a bunk with six beds. The other two-story bunks are in the room next door. All beds are equipped with duvets. The hut has a kitchen with crockery / cutlery and running water. A wood stove is used for heating, which is also used for cooking and hot water can be made. Wood that is ready for use is kept ready at the hut. There is electric light with a timer in the entire hut, which is fed by the solar system. In addition, the emergency radio system is supplied via the solar system. In front of the hut there is a wooden well and several wooden tables and benches.
