The Elektrobit Automotive GmbH is a company active in the field of automotive software German company with headquarters in Erlangen , the 100% subsidiary of Continental AG belongs.
Before July 1, 2015, the company was one of two divisions of Elektrobit Oyj, a Finnish stock corporation; on July 1, 2015, the brand name Elektrobit and the automotive division with around 1,500 employees were sold to Continental for € 600 million .
history
The group was created in 2004 through the purchase of the Erlangen company 3SOFT by the Elektrobit Group. At this point in time, 3SOFT, founded in 1988, had developed from a provider of medical technology software to a provider of both its own system software and services for automotive control unit software.
With the takeover of the Austrian FlexRay specialist DECOMSYS in June 2007 and the French embedded software company NCS in July 2008, the automotive business segment of the then Elektrobit Group continued to grow.
After the sale of the automotive division to Continental AG, including the name Elektrobit, the former Elektrobit Group, which now only comprised the wireless division, was renamed Bittium .
In November 2017, Continental incorporated the Israeli Argus Cyber Security, based in Tel Aviv, into Elektrobit.
