Elisabeth Lindermeier

Elisabeth Lindermeier (other names: Kempe-Lindermeier, Elisabeth; Lindermeier-Lange, Elisabeth; * February 17, 1923, possibly 1925 in Munich ; † February 19, 1998 in Munich) was a German opera singer .

Live and act

After initially working as a bank clerk, she began studying singing at the Munich University of Music . With the support of Kammersänger Hans Hotter , she made the leap into the ensemble of the Prinzregententheater. In 1946 she made her debut at the Bavarian State Opera in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel in the role of the Sandman. She stayed at the State Opera throughout her career.

In 1956 she made guest appearances in Berlin and Dresden as Leonore in the Troubadour . In the same year she sang Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at the Glyndebourne Festival . The singer, who was married to the conductor Rudolf Kempe , appeared at the Covent Garden Opera in London as Freia and Gutrune in the Nibelungenring and in 1953 in the English premiere of the Richard Strauss opera Die Liebe der Danae . In 1958 she took part in a staged performance of the oratorio Saul by Georg Friedrich Handel in London .

Further guest appearances have taken her to Amsterdam, Florence, Frankfurt / Main, Monte Carlo, Rome and Vienna.

She also made several recordings with the Berlin Philharmonic , Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , Bavarian State Orchestra , Munich Philharmonic , Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductors such as Otto Klemperer , Eugen Jochum , Fritz Lehmann and her husband Rudolf Kempe .

Her repertoire included works a. a. by Mozart, Carl Orff, Wagner and Puccini. Her stage partners included u. a. Christa Ludwig , Rudolf Schock , Hermann Prey and Fritz Wunderlich .

She ended her career in favor of her husband in the late 1950s. Her two daughters died early. After the early death of her husband, she worked as a music critic a. a. at the Munich tz .
