The Eller is a left tributary of the Rhume in Thuringia and Lower Saxony . It arises from the confluence of Geroder Eller and Weilroder Eller near Zwinge .

Geroder Eller

The Geroder Eller rises southeast of the Gerode monastery , ⊙ at about 340 m above sea level. NN . It flows in a northerly direction through Weißenborn-Lüderode . The Jütze is located south-east of Zwinge. The Geroder Eller is the shorter source river with about 7.5 km, has the (somewhat) larger catchment area.

Weilroder Eller
(GKZ: 488221, 9.1 km, 27.46 km²)
The approximately 9.1 km long Weilroder Eller rises north of Weilrode , ⊙ at about 330 m above sea level. NN , about 100 m from the Lower Saxony state border. It flows in a southerly direction through Weilrode, takes on the Bartolfelder Eller and reaches Bockelnhagen . To the north of Zwinge it joins the Geroder Eller to form the Eller.

course
After the confluence of the source rivers, the Eller reaches the state border with Lower Saxony. It flows through Hilkerode and flows into the Rhume in Rüdershausen about 3 km after its source . The course of the river is located in the area of the nature reserve Rhumeaue / Ellerniederung / Gillersheimer Bachtal .
