Alsace-Lorraine G 4

The vehicles of type G 4 were freight locomotives of the Reichseisenbahnen in Alsace-Lorraine . There were two different types of it. The older one was supplied as the C25, C26 and C27, the newer as the C28 and C30. Both were twin-cylinder compound steam locomotives .

These machines were a further development of the previous twin machines of type G 3 . They were the first freight locomotives of the Reichseisenbahn with a boiler pressure of 117.7 kN / cm² (12 bar). In addition, they were the first locomotives in Alsace-Lorraine to have a Heusinger control .

They were built by Grafenstaden (C25) in 1895 and by Henschel (C26 and C27) in 1896 and 1898 . Two locomotives stayed in Germany after 1918. The rest were retired by the end of the 1930s. One locomotive was added to the SNCF's inventory in 1938 .

The locomotives received type 3 T 12 tenders .

The second series of the G 4 had an Allan control and corresponded to the Prussian G 4.2 . A total of 57 locomotives were built by Grafenstaden , Hanomag and Hohenzollern between 1899 and 1904 . They were mainly used in Lorraine and Luxembourg.

The locomotives were retired in the 1930s. Six of the locomotives stayed in Germany after 1918. One of them received the Reichsbahn number 53 025 .

The locomotives received type 3 T 12 tenders .
