Ernst Emil Hartmann (born April 19, 1868 in Bremsnitz , † March 22, 1942 in Jena ) was a German consumer cooperative and politician ( SPD ).

education

Emil Hartmann was born the son of a bricklayer . He attended elementary schools in Neustadt an der Orla , Bremsnitz and Rutha . From 1892 to 1895 he learned the trade of carpenter and at the same time attended an advanced training school. Until 1898 he worked in the profession he had learned.

Consumer cooperative

From 1898 to 1907 he worked as a warehouse keeper. From 1907 to 1921 he was managing director of the consumer association in Rudolstadt and later in Schwarza in the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . After that, between July 1924 and 1933 he was a travel agent for the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine (GEG) in Thuringia. From 1921 to 1933 he was a member of the General Council of the Central Association of German Consumers .

Hartmann was a member of the SPD.

Hartmann represented the SPD from 1902 to 1905 and from 1908 to 1918 in the Landtag of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt , from 1919 to 1920 in the Landtag of the Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt and from 1920 to 1933 in the Thuringian Landtag .

Public offices

As a result of the November Revolution of 1918, Hartmann was a member of the Council of People's Representatives of the Free State of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt until March 1919 . From March 1919 to May 1920 he was the head of the government of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt as chairman of the state ministry .

In the state of Thuringia , Hartmann belonged to the state government formed by the leading minister of state Arnold Paulssen on November 10, 1920 as a state councilor for Rudolstadt. From October 6, 1921 to December 7, 1923, managing director until February 21, 1924, he was in charge of the Ministry of Finance.

Honors

In Rudolstadt, Emil-Hartmann-Strasse was named after him.
