Emil von Kageneck

Emil Karl Alexander Freiherr von Kageneck (born November 10, 1812 in Karlsruhe , † November 17, 1882 ibid) was a Baden forest official.

Life

Emil von Kageneck came from the Upper Rhine noble family of the von Kageneck . He was a son of the Grand Duke of Baden's Oberhofmeister and Privy Councilor (Franz) Karl (Simon) Freiherr von Kageneck (1776–1846) and Henriette von Kageneck, née Freiin von Schacht (1782–1846). He graduated from the Lyceum in Karlsruhe in 1828, then attended the polytechnic school in Karlsruhe and from 1829 the Royal Württemberg Forest Academy Hohenheim , where he passed the state examination in 1832.

From 1832 he worked in Baden , Kandern , Bruchsal and most recently in Gernsbach under the direction of Franz von Kettner . From 1840 on he was the sovereign district forester in Rotenfels for 18 years and lived in Gaggenau . On June 3, 1841, he married Emilie Gulat von Wellenburg (1820–1899), a granddaughter of Daniel Gulat von Wellenburg (1764–1839), who was ennobled in 1800 . From 1855 chamberlain , in 1858 he was accepted into the board of directors of the forests, mines and metallurgical works for Baden , which later became the domain directorate of the Grand Duchy of Baden . During the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/71 he led 14 hospital trains from the front to his home country. In 1877 he was appointed to the Oberforstrat. He remained in this activity until the end of his life.

Awards

Emil von Kageneck received several Baden and Württemberg war awards for his work during the war of 1870/71, as well as the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves of the Order of the Zähringer Lion and the Iron Cross, 2nd class . For his professional services he was awarded the Commander's Cross 2nd Class of the Order of the Zähringer Lion.
