Emily Nanziri (born November 29, 1987 in Katikamu ) is a Ugandan sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Emily Nanziri gained her first international experience at the 2008 African Championships, where she was eliminated in the first round with 57.16 seconds. The following year she took part in the Summer Universiade in Belgrade , where she was eliminated over 200 meters with 25.00 s in the first round and over 400 meters to the semi-finals, in which she was eliminated with 55.41 s. Also at the African Championships in Nairobi 2010 she was eliminated with 54.37 s in the semifinals and was sixth with the Ugandan 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 41.24 min. Then she first took part in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi , where she was eliminated with 54.94 s in the semifinals and was disqualified with the relay in the final. Four years later she retired from the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with 59.02 s in the first round. In 2018 she reached the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast , in which she was eliminated with 54.10 s. In addition, she was eighth in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 35.03 min.

At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she was eliminated in the 4-by-400-meter relay with 3: 35.02 min in the preliminary round and at the Africa Games in Rabat , she was eliminated in the 200 meters with 24.66 seconds first round and won the bronze medal behind Nigeria and Botswana in 3: 32.25 minutes.

In 2008 and 2009 as well as 2011 Nanziri was Ugandan champion in the 400 meter run and in 2008 also over 100 meters. In 2014 she secured the championship title with the 4-by-400-meter relay and in 2019 in the 4-by-100-meter relay.
