life and work

Emma Löwenstamm was a daughter of the couple Berthold (1833–1913) and Cäcilie Löwenstamm, née Goldschmid (1839–1910); she had numerous siblings. She received her training from Ferdinand Schmutzer in Vienna , worked in Vienna, Prague and Gablonz and created landscape paintings and interiors , she also specialized in portrait and ex-libris etchings . In the 1920s she was in a relationship with the writer Ernst Viktor Zenker .

The picture, which came from a Viennese estate, was exhibited in Germany in 1992. It bears Lenin's autograph on the back. Theoretically, Hitler and Lenin could have met in Vienna in 1909.

A portrait of Arthur Schnitzler from 1911 was used on the frontispiece of the Complete Edition of Schnitzler's Works, published by S. Fischer in 1912 .
