Emma Scaunich

Emma Scaunich (born March 1, 1954 in Udine ) is a former Italian marathon runner .

In 1985 she finished eleventh in the IAAF World Cup marathon , in 1986 sixth in the Osaka Women's Marathon and seventh in the New York City Marathon . In 1987 she was eighth in Osaka, came 20th at the World Athletics Championships in Rome and came third in the Venice Marathon . The following year she was sixth in Osaka, twelfth in the European Cup marathon and second in the Chicago marathon .

In 1989 she was the overall winner in Venice and seventh national champion in New York City, and in 1990 she was fourth at the European Athletics Championships in Split and defended her Italian championship as the overall winner at the Maratona d'Italia . A twelfth place in the Berlin Marathon in 1991 followed shortly afterwards with the second overall place in the Maratona d'Italia, the third championship title in a row.

At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona she came in 18th, and in Venice she was again the overall winner of the national champion.

In 1993 she won the Barcelona Marathon , together with the Turin Marathon, the Italian championship and was sixth in Berlin and New York City. In 1994 she finished eleventh in the Boston Marathon .

Emma Scaunich was one of the clients of the sports doctor Francesco Conconi .
