history

In 1888 the "Städtische Wasserwerk Eschweiler" and the "Stolberger Wasserwerk-Gesellschaft" were founded in the Eschweiler-Stolberg area , and in 1909 the "Wasserwerk des Landkreis Aachen AG". In 1912 the mixed-economy cross-network company "Licht- und Kraftwerke GmbH" was founded and in 1917 the "Rheinische Licht- und Kraftwerke GmbH" was founded. In 1925, the communal Eschweiler energy supply company, founded in 1905, merged with “Licht- und Kraftwerke GmbH” to form “Licht- und Kraftwerke Eschweiler-Stolberg GmbH” (Likra). On December 2, 1930, the shareholders' meeting of the “Licht- und Kraftwerke” decided to move the company's headquarters to Eschweiler. The entry at the Eschweiler District Court took place on December 16, 1930.

In 1981 the "Licht- und Kraftwerke", the "Westgas Aachen" and the waterworks Eschweilers, Stolbergs and the then Aachen district signed a cooperation agreement. In 1984 this loose company merger was given a more solid form in the "EWV-Betriebsführungsgesellschaft mbH" and in 1994 the energy supply companies involved merged to form "EWV Energie- und Wasser -versorgung GmbH", which took on the task of managing the still independent works "Verbandswasserwerk Aldenhoven GmbH" , "Städtisches Wasserwerk Eschweiler GmbH" and "Wärmeversorgung Würselen GmbH" should keep.
