Engelbert Wilden

Engelbert Wilden (born September 25, 1923 in Sulzbach / Saar ; † March 28, 2014 ) was a German trade unionist and CDU politician .

Wilden, son of a miner, was active in many union functions. Since 1958 he worked in the Saarland district of the German Federation of Trade Unions . Until 1966 he was managing director of the Christian Metal Workers' Association in Saar, after which he moved to IG Metall as a secretary . He was also a member of the board of directors of the AOK in Saarland and represented the insured at the federal level. He was also a member of the National Executive Committee of the Catholic Workers' Movement and was a lecturer and speaker in Catholic adult education . In 1986 Wilden, who last acted as deputy chairman of the DGB in Saarland , retired.

Wilden was politically active in the CDU. In 1965 he ran for this on the Saarland state list for the German Bundestag , but without success. Even in the state election in 1970 , he ran in vain for a mandate in the state parliament . After Gerhard Stillemunkes left parliament, he was allowed to move up to the Saarbrücken parliament on June 18, 1975 and was a member of it for a few weeks until the end of the electoral term.

Wilden was buried on April 4, 2014 in the Saarbrücken-Burbach forest cemetery.
