history

The small settlement was built in the second half of the 18th century around the duck inn located there. On older maps it was also referred to as the duck inn .

Until January 1, 1957, Entenschenke was part of the Commerau community , which was eventually incorporated into Königswartha. In GDR times, the place was in the Bautzen district in the Dresden district and came to the Bautzen district after reunification . From 1994 to 2008 Entenschenke was part of the old district of Bautzen , which merged with the district of Kamenz during the district reform in 2008 to form today's district of Bautzen .

population

For his statistics on the Sorbian population in Upper Lusatia, Arnošt Muka determined Sorbian residents in the entire Commerau community without exception in the 1880s . Since the middle of the 20th century, the number of Sorbian residents has fallen sharply.

Most of the devout residents are of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination and parish to Königswartha. Until 1872 Entenschenke was part of the parish in Neschwitz .
