Enzweiler is a district of the city of Idar-Oberstein in the Birkenfeld district in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Geography and transport links

The district is located southwest of the old town of Oberstein next to the Hammerstein district . Enzweiler is the second smallest district and is located on the edge of the Nahe and the B 41 . There is a day-care center in town that is run by the city. The “Auf der Schach” sports field is located on Heidstrasse. The district has a multi-purpose hall and a cemetery. The place is connected to the local public transport by the regional line 320 of the ORN .

history

Enzweiler was first mentioned in a document in 1516 in the parish register of the Idar parish.

As part of the Rhineland-Palatinate functional and territorial reform , Enzweiler was incorporated into the city of Idar-Oberstein together with three other communities on June 7, 1969.
