Erdmann von Glasenapp (born February 16, 1660 in Wurchow , Western Pomerania , † November 5, 1721 in Wurchow) was a royal Prussian major general .

Life

Erdmann von Glasenapp came from the noble family von Glasenapp from the Pomerania . In 1679 he enrolled at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) . In 1684 he became a cornet of the Elector of Brandenburg . As a young officer he stabbed a high Polish nobleman in Danzig , probably in a duel. Without further ado, he fled to France on one of the departing ships. There he served Louis XIV as an officer for 30 years . He was appointed in 1691 Capitaine , 1698 at the French Regiment Fürstenberg for Major and 1710 to Colonel and Brigadier des armes du roi transported.

Not until 1712 did he return to Prussian service. On October 1, 1714, Friedrich Wilhelm I appointed him major general.

Erdmann von Glasenapp became dean of the cathedral chapter in Cammin in 1716 .

family

His parents were the Brandenburg District Administrator Kaspar Otto von Glasenapp († January 5, 1664 in Kolberg) and his wife Ernestina von Zitzewitz . He was the brother of the Prussian Field Marshal Caspar Otto von Glasenapp . Erdmann von Glasenapp remained unmarried and had no offspring.
