Erdwin von der Horst (politician)

Erdwin von der Horst (also: Erdwin Horst ; full name Erdwin Christian von der Horst ; born June 3, 1823 in Rotenburg (Wümme) ; † April 18 or 19, 1884 in Hanover ) was a German landowner , politician , senator and journalist .

Life

Erdwin Christian von der Horst was born during the time of the Kingdom of Hanover as a member of the Hanoverian noble family von der Horst as the son of a lawyer. From November 2, 1839 to September 6, 1840 he attended the Ilfeld convent school .

After studying law, von der Horst worked in Verden an der Aller, where he last worked as a high court attorney.

The landowner joined the Frankfurt National Assembly in 1849 and was a member of the 2nd Chamber of the General Assembly of Estates from the same year until 1856 .

From 1859 Erdwin von der Horst took a leading role in the German National Association .

From 1869 until the early days of the German Empire, Erdwin von der Horst was Senator for the city of Hanover until 1873.

After his farewell into retirement, von der Horst became an editor and employee of the newspaper for Northern Germany .
