Eric Cross
Eric Cross (born May 31, 1902 in London- Hendon as Eric Leon D. Cross , † March 1, 2004 in Hillingdon , County Middlesex ) was a British cameraman .
Life
Eric Leon Cross trained at Coopers in Dunstable (north of London) and made his film debut as a still photographer. In 1927/1928 he was head of the respective still photography departments at the production companies BIP and "Elstree" before starting to work as a cameraman in 1929.
For the next three decades, Cross photographed for entertainment films . During the Second World War it was used by the film company "Two Cities" of producer Sydney Box . Cross has worked with a number of well-known directors over the course of his career, including Philip Leacock , Roy Ward Baker , John Boulting and Ken Annakin . It was primarily about dramatic material.
In the second half of the 1950s, Cross also photographed the international, English-language film debuts of Germany's then young stars Hardy Krüger - the war film One Made It Through - and Horst Buchholz - the crime film Tiger Bay .
Shortly before the end of his active career in the early 1960s, the Austrian remigrant John Olden brought Eric Cross to Hamburg for two of his TV productions ( Waldhausstrasse 20 and Schau heimwärts, Engel , the latter starring Olden's wife Inge Meysel ).
Cross died at the age of 102.
