Erich Behrendt (sociologist)

Erich Behrendt (* 1957 in Marl ) is a German social and communication scientist . He taught sociology with a focus on empirical methods and statistics "at the University of Duisburg-Essen and is the owner of Prof. Dr. Behrendt IMK Consulting. Behrendt is a scientific author and was chairman of the professional association of German sociologists for many years . He has been an honorary professor since 2019 for Digital Transformation and Leadership at the University of Applied Sciences Europe and heads the affiliated institute "wisnet innovation research institute e.V."

Life

Erich Behrendt studied social and communication sciences at the Ruhr University Bochum . Behrendt received his doctorate in 1996 from the Free University of Berlin on the subject of “Learning with Multimedia ”; he undertook postgraduate training to become a trainer and organizational consultant .

Scientific and professional career

Since the beginning of the 1980s, Behrendt has been involved in research projects on the use of digital media in learning processes, since the 1990s he has been working as a management consultant with new forms of learning and since 2000 with the design of business models and marketing for knowledge service providers . His current research and consulting work focuses on digital transformation processes (Economy 4.0) and Work 4.0 .

Behrendt was a research assistant at the Department of Economics at the Bergische Universität / Wuppertal University and teaches methods of empirical social research and science management at the Universities of Bochum and Duisburg-Essen . Behrendt worked together with Eckart Pankoke ; later with Petra Stein and Frank Faulbaum. He was the owner and director of the Institute for Media and Communication in Bochum , Cologne , Berlin , Recklinghausen ; and from 2003 the Dr. Behrendt IMK Consulting in Recklinghausen and cooperates closely with the Berlin sociologist Helmut Kromrey .

Behrendt is a co-founder of the Society for Education and Profession eV and currently works there as Head of Research, Innovation and Communication. From 2019, Behrendt will be teaching and researching digital transformation processes in business and society and new work models at the University of Applied Sciences Europe, where he will head the wisnet Innovation research institute eV

Chairman of the Professional Association of German Sociologists

From 1998 to 2009 Behrendt was 1st Chairman of the Professional Association of German Sociologists . During his time as chairman, the association was able to make a name for itself. a. through regular conferences for applied sociology. Behrendt was also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Chemistry Information Center , reviewer for three certification societies in the context of the accreditation of new study programs and was a member of an accreditation commission.

From 1998 to 2009, Behrendt was a member of the joint ethics committee of the German Society for Sociology and the Professional Association of German Sociologists. He is a member of ScienceOpen's Editorial & Advisory Board.

Since 2004, Behrendt has been committed to greater consideration of social science competencies in the development and design of information technology solutions in the private sector and public administration . He is a member of the board of wis-net eV and was president of networker NRW, the IT umbrella organization, from 2009 to 2011.
