Erich Hippler

Erich Anton Hippler (born February 16, 1892 in Braunsberg ; † December 29, 1969 in Osnabrück ) was a German administrative lawyer who also worked as a local researcher and genealogist .

biography

family

Hippler was the son of August Hippler, a farming citizen of Braunsberg , and his wife Rosa, nee. Thiel. He married Anna Maria Wichert, also from Braunsberg, with whom he had five children.

education

After the Baccalaureate at the school in Braunsberg studied Hippler from the summer semester of 1911 to the summer semester 1912 at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich Law . Here he joined the Catholic student association KDStV Rheno-Franconia in the Cartell Association of Catholic German student associations . From the following semester, he continued his academic training at the Albertus University in Königsberg and became a member of the CV association AV Tuisconia. He was only able to take the first state examination in law in 1919 due to the interruption of his military service as a volunteer during the First World War . In 1921, Hippler was at the Albertus University with a thesis entitled "The passive diplomatic traffic of the Pope" for Doctor of Law doctorate and put in the following year the second state examination from.

Employment

In the following years Hippler worked as a court assessor and government assessor in Marienwerder . In 1924 he was transferred to Rößel as a representative of District Administrator Hugo Neumann and two years later to the government in Osnabrück . There he was promoted to the government council. In 1929, Hippler was initially appointed provisional, then finally appointed district administrator of the Hildesheim district the following year .

Hippler, until 1933 a member of the Center Party and devout Catholic , looked after the takeover by the Nazis compression tests exposed the Nazi Party to join, and joined subordinate party organizations. In 1936 he was removed from office and replaced by a member of the NSDAP. Hippler was put on hold and assigned to the government in Stade for service use . He served there until 1951 after the waiting period was lifted in 1948. That year he was sent to Osnabrück. There he retired in 1955. In 1958, Hippler was given the status of a government director by way of reparation for being forced out of office by the National Socialist rulers .

Local history and genealogy

In his spare time, Hippler worked intensively on the history of Warmia and its people. He published numerous local history and genealogical articles in various relevant journals. His genealogical estate is now in the Martin Opitz Library .
