Erich Keber

Erich Keber (born September 16, 1926 in Meran ; † January 17, 2016 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Erich Keber was born in Meran and came to Innsbruck in 1939. There he attended from 1942 to 1946 the higher state trade school , sculpture department, with Hans Pontiller and Walter Kuen . From 1948 to 1952 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Franz Santifaller . From 1955 he lived and worked as a freelance sculptor in Innsbruck. He created figurative and abstract sculptures out of stone and bronze, many of them in public spaces.

In 1976 he initiated a cultural exchange with Slovenia for graphics and sculpture with exhibitions in Innsbruck, Schwaz , Krainburg and Laibach . In 1981 he initiated the Tyrolean stone sculptor symposium , which initially took place at the Grillhof near Vill , later in the courtyard of the Siegmair School in Pradl  and particularly encouraged younger artists. Many of the resulting sculptures were set up in the outdoor area of ​​the Siegmair School in a publicly accessible sculpture park.
