Erich Seifritz

Erich Seifritz (* 1961 ; resident in Gossau SG ) is a Swiss psychiatrist , clinic director and university professor .

Life

Seifritz studied medicine at the University of Basel from 1980 , passed the state examination in 1987 and received his doctorate in 1991. As an assistant doctor he was at the Cantonal Psychiatric Clinic Königsfelden (1988/89), the Geriatric Medical Clinic and Memory Clinic Basel (1990/91), the Psychiatric University Clinic Basel (1991-95) and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, Active in San Diego (1995–97). In 1997 he was approved as a specialist FMH for psychiatry and psychotherapy . From 1997 to 2003 he was a senior physician at the Psychiatric University Clinic in Basel. From 2000 Seifritz held an assistant professorship at the University of Basel (until 2004) and a professorship from the Swiss National Science Foundation (until 2006). In 2001 he completed his habilitation at the University of Basel. From 2004 to 2007 Seifritz worked as Vice Director of the University Clinic for Psychiatry in Bern. 2006, appointed him University of Bern for Titularprofessor . From 2007 to 2009 he was the medical director of the private clinic for psychiatry and psychotherapy, Sanatorium Kilchberg .

Since February 1, 2009, Erich Seifritz has succeeded Daniel Hell as Full Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Zurich and Director of the Clinic for Affective Diseases and General Psychiatry Zurich East at the Psychiatric University Clinic Zurich.

His research focuses on the etiology, diagnosis and therapy of affective and anxiety disorders .

Seifritz lives in Bolligen .
