Ernst Bernauer

Ernst Bernauer (born December 20, 1867 in Aha am Schluchsee ; † September 18, 1929 in Karlsruhe ) was a German lawyer, President of the Higher Regional Court and member of the Baden Assembly of Estates and the Baden State Parliament .

Life

Bernauer was born as the son of a farmer and mayor in Schluchsee. After graduating from elementary school in Schluchsee in 1881 and attending grammar school in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1888, he studied law in Freiburg , Leipzig , Munich and Heidelberg . In 1892 Bernauer completed his doctorate at the law faculty in Heidelberg. He went on educational trips to Italy, Greece and Turkey. After several positions as a district judge in Villingen and Mannheim , Bernauer was appointed to the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court in 1910called. There he brought in the experiences he had gained in Mannheim as a member of the trade senate. Since Bernauer felt at home with the city of Mannheim, he stayed with it as an active member of the gymnastics club in 1846 . During the war, Bernauer was involved in various offices, among other things, he was head of the war usury office and a member of the state insurance office. From 1913 to 1921 Bernauer was a member of the Baden Center Party of the state parliament. He was elected for the first time in 1913 and again in 1918 as a member of the state parliament and member of the center group. For several years he was also a member of the Center Party in the city parliament of Karlsruhe. He was also an active member of the Baden National Assembly. As head of the constitutional committee in the Baden National Assembly, he was instrumental in shaping the new constitution. Because of his achievements, Bernauer was appointed to the Ministry of Justice in 1919, where he was also assigned the duties of ministerial commissioner in the central management of the regional association of Baden district associations for the protection of young people and prisoners' welfare. In 1923, Bernauer was appointed President of the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court as the successor to Hermann Beck.

Ernst Bernauer had been married to Barbara Therese Kröll since 1897 and had two children with her.

Since 1927 he suffered from a severe kidney disease, so that Bernauer could only perform his duties to a limited extent. He died a few days before the 50th anniversary of the court in 1929.
