Ernst Sattler (actor)

Ernst Sattler , actually Ernst Roth , (born October 14, 1887 in Munich ; † January 3, 1974 in Berlin ) was a German actor and radio play speaker .

Life

After graduating from high school , Ernst Sattler studied philology at the University of Munich and took acting lessons from Ludwig Heller. From 1910 he played his first roles in theaters in Munich , Graz and Zurich . He then had engagements at the Lessing Theater in Berlin and at the theater in Nuremberg . From 1919 to 1926 he was a member of the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg . Guest performances at the Städtische Bühnen Frankfurt and the Alten Theater in Leipzig followed . From 1935 to 1944 he was a member of the ensemble at the Volksbühne Berlin . After the end of the Second World War , an engagement at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin followed from 1945 to 1951 . He then worked at the Schiller Theater and the Schloßparktheater in Berlin.

Ernst Sattler has worked in various film and television productions . These also included the National Socialist propaganda films Pour le Mérite and I Accuse , which today can only be shown as reserved films under strict conditions. But he also played in entertainment films such as Happy Journey with Paul Hubschmid and Paul Klinger and Liebe, Jazz and Übermut with Peter Alexander and Bibi Johns .

From 1948 on, Sattler was also active as a speaker in numerous radio plays . In the radio play The house memory of Erich Kaestner in the direction of Ulrich Lauterbach he spoke next to Hans Caninenberg , Friedrich Schoenfelder and Hans Söhnker .

In addition, Ernst Sattler could be heard as a voice actor.
