Ernst Albrecht Eberhard Uhl (born October 27, 1932 in Budapest ) is a German Protestant theologian . He was secretary of the Bremen Evangelical Church .

Life

Uhl is the son of a Protestant pastor. Because the mother died early and the father fell victim to the Second World War as a Wehrmacht soldier , he and his brothers grew up with an aunt in Weimar who worked there as a social worker. From 1947 to 1951 he attended the Pforta state school in Schulpforte near Naumburg, where he graduated from high school . The doctrinal social climate created by the SED in the early GDR and the food for thought from the Bible study in the Junge Gemeinde aroused his interest in studying theology. After graduating from high school in 1951, he left the GDR because he was unable to realize this wish there and went to the Federal Republic of Germany , where he attended theological lectures with Karl Barth in Wuppertal and Göttingen and then in Basel, Switzerland . When he wanted to return to the GDR after completing his studies, he was refused entry. From 1959 to 1961 he was a research assistant at the University of Bonn . Uhl received his doctorate in Göttingen in 1962 . After his Vicariate , he was in Bremen on May 12, 1963 ordained . From 1963 until his retirement in 1996 he was a pastor in the Bockhorn parish. As a member of the Christian Peace Conference (CFK), he maintained mutual visiting contacts with the Thuringian pastor Peter Franz , who was released after his exposure as a Stasi - IM , and his community group in Kapellendorf , which worked corporately in the regional group of the CFK in the GDR.

From 1980 to 1989 Uhl was senior of the Lutheran Congregation Association in the Evangelical Church in Bremen and in 1989 he took over from Wolf-Udo Smidt, in addition to his job as the parish priest, as the secretary of the church committee of his regional church. He passed this office on to his successor Louis-Ferdinand von Zobeltitz in 1995 .

Then Uhl was parish pastor in Bockhorn for another year before he retired in 1996. Since then he has been taking care of the revitalization of CFRP on a voluntary basis. Until 2007 he was the editor of the CFRP circulars . Uhl is also involved in the Lidice Initiative Bremen and is an honorary citizen of Lidice .

He is married to the former Bremen Senator for Social Affairs, Sabine Uhl . Both have two grown sons and a daughter.
