Erwein Graf Matuschka-Greiffenclau
Erwein Graf Matuschka-Greiffenclau (born November 15, 1938 in Würzburg , † August 19, 1997 at Schloss Vollrads ) was a German wine lobbyist and winemaker .
Life
Matuschka-Greiffenclau studied law in Munich and Berlin and from 1969 worked for Olivetti in sales and marketing . After his older brother Karl renounced the management of the family inheritance, Erwein took over the Schloss Vollrads winery near Winkel in the Rheingau in 1975 after the death of his father Richard Graf Matuschka-Greiffenclau in the 27th generation , where he also lived. From 1978 to 1990 Matuschka-Greiffenclau was President of the Association of German Predicate and Quality Wineries eV (VDP) . From 1982 he worked as a consultant for Ericsson Information Systems . He was the founding director of ProRiesling in 1985 , was President of the Rheingau Winegrowing Association from 1990 and was considered "Germany's most famous winemaker".
His house bank, the Nassauische Sparkasse , applied to the local court in Rüdesheim am Rhein for the bankruptcy of his winery in 1997 . Matuschka-Greiffenclau then committed suicide .
Private life
Since 1965, Count Matuschka-Greiffenclau was first married to Sophie Countess von Waldburg-Zeil-Trauchburg (* November 17, 1938), and in her second marriage since 1983 with Sabine Countess Matuschka-Greiffenclau (née Neggert; * January 7, 1953, † July 25, 1994) married. A daughter comes from this marriage.
