Erwin Schmidt (born January 24, 1955 in Vienna ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( piano , organ ).

Live and act

Schmidt had a classical piano training and graduated from the jazz department of the Vienna Conservatory with Fritz Pauer . He has performed at various jazz festivals in Europe and Austria such as the Vienna Jazz Festival (with Kevin Mahogany and Ray Charles ), the Salzburg Festival of Jazz and Jazz over Villach . From the early 1990s, recordings were made a. a. with Christian Havel , Elly Wright , Ingrid Maria Wagner , Carole Alston , Heinz von Hermann , Joris Dudli and Hans Salomon . Around 2001 he recorded his debut album Dorothy's Valentine in a trio with Joschi Schneeberger (bass) and Walther Großrubatscher (drums). In the field of jazz he was involved in 26 recording sessions between 1993 and 2014. Schmidt teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the Albrechtsberg Music School in Klosterneuburg ; He also worked as musical director in numerous theater productions as well as television and radio recordings.
